Demystifying Clean Truck Check: Essential Information for Compliance
11/08/2023
As the transportation industry evolves towards a greener future, California has implemented the Clean Truck Check program to ensure non-gasoline trucks, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles adhere to stringent environmental standards. This blog seeks to clarify key aspects of the program, offering insights derived from a comprehensive 2023 training webinar.
Determining Eligibility for Clean Truck Check
Clean Truck Check applies to non-gasoline (diesel, alternative fuel, and hybrid) trucks, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) exceeding 14,000 lbs. These regulations encompass various vehicle types, including privately owned, single vehicle owners, government vehicles, and those registered outside California, excluding motorhomes.
Understanding Compliance Fees
If your vehicle did not operate in California during 2023, no compliance fee is due until your 2024 compliance deadline, determined by your CA DMV registration date or the last VIN digit if registered outside California.
Correcting Registration Information
Re-register on www.CleanTruckCheck.Arb.Ca.Gov with the correct email address. For entity name resets, contact the administrators via email, specifying the entity name.
Navigating Data Submission
Access comprehensive tutorials, particularly the "How to Operate CTC-VIS Training Videos," for a step-by-step guide on reporting vehicle and entity information.
Certificate Issuance
Certificates take up to 2 business days (credit card payments) or 5-7 business days (eCheck payments) for processing. Check the VEHICLES section after the 7th business day.
Managing Invoices
Refer to the tutorial video on the CTC-VIS Fee Payment Module for assistance with invoice-related concerns.
Entity Type Selection
Unfortunately, entity types cannot be changed. Individuals without the need for bulk uploads or location access can continue using their accounts without any further action.
Certificate Corrections
Once generated, certificates cannot be altered. Correct vehicle information, pay the compliance fee, and print a new certificate if needed.
VIN Acceptance Issues
If confident in the correct VIN entry, select "irregular VIN" and proceed for accurate reporting.
Troubleshooting Bulk Uploads
Ensure correctness in all Excel file columns containing only the required information. Utilize dropdown options and consult the Bulk Vehicle Upload Module tutorial before re-uploading.
This guide aims to demystify the Clean Truck Check program, clarifying common queries. Stay compliant, contribute to a cleaner environment, and confidently navigate the compliance process on California's roads.
